The three big ski areas, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang, Kitzsteinhorn-Kaprun and Schmitten in Zell am See are breaking the cor-nices, so to speak, and granting full power to families and young people in Pinzgau. There has already been the Ski Alpin Card, combining all three areas on one season ticket, but now, for the first time, a Saturday lift pass will only cost ten Euros for kids and teenagers between 6 and 19 years of age. This cool offer, the “Power of Ten” runs throughout the whole winter on every Saturday. The “Ten” message is one that is simple and clear: the three ski areas are engaging themselves for the younger generation. Over the last few years, there has been huge investment into the “New Generation” project, and the “Power of Ten” ticket is now the icing on the cake in the form of a pass to use at the weekend.
A new Pinzgau wisdom every Saturday.
There is an element of wisdom behind “the Power of Ten” idea that makes sense to both parents and children: skiing and snowboarding offer exercise for the body and spirit and start your living energy flowing. Now, you can enjoy these typical alpine sports at an easily affordable family price. The kids and teenagers can then take this gained energy with them into their school, college or workplace, and profit from it when attacking the demands made on them.
The three Pinzgau ski areas offer the perfect venue for the “Ten”-wisdom: there are over 200 km of perfectly prepared pistes to enjoy in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang; the kids are in their element here, with black world cup runs, ski movie speed pistes, and boardercross. There are two hip Snowparks for the “Big Air” scene: the Nitro Snowpark on the Asitz in Leogang and the totally re-designed Nightpark at the new Unter-schwarzachbahn lift in Hinterglemm.
The Schmitten in Zell am See offers 77 km of snow sure pistes, including five long runs into the valley and the ski movie piste (with timing facility) on the Sonnenalm, like a huge playground for speed skiers. The training piste on the Ebenberg is very popular with the US ladies ski team, led by Lindsay Vonn and Julia Manusco. The Freeskier and Boarder jibbing sessions take place in the Rome Park Schmitten and the freestylers perfect their timing on the kicker there.
The glacier ski area of Kitzsteinhorn-Kaprun, with its 41 km of pistes, 3 world class snow parks, and the chilled Volvo Ice Camp, is a hot spot in the eternal ice.
This winter the snowpark facilites will be further expanded. There is a new Park website and free wireless access, including at the new top station.
From January the Powder-Feeling will be running high in the backcountry of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier: brand new XXL Freeride available through endless powder fields, with a freeride info base and info points on 5 routes, a real kick for both experts and those new to freeriding.
There are Top Events happening in all three ski areas, like the “La Resistance Slopestyle Challenge” (Schmitten), the “Austrian Freeski Open” (Kitzsteinhorn) and the legendary “Glemmbang” (Skicircus). Find out more at www.powerofzehn.at and on Facebook.
